Lucida’s Gold Sponsorship of NAPF conference a great success

In early October Lucida supported the NAPF as Gold Sponsor of its 2008 Conference & Exhibition in Glasgow.

Trustees, pension scheme manager and sponsors were in force at the event which came at a pertinent time for those involved in the pensions arena.

Lucida’s chief Actuary Andrew Stoker and Operations Director Margaret Snowdon kicked off the event by running a series of Trustee workshops on pension scheme buyout and assessing trustee performance.

The results of the Lucida’s Pension Pulse Survey on the Thursday of the event proved to be a great draw for delegates keen to understand the pressures facing scheme managers and trustees in the current climate.

On the final day of the conference, Jonathan Bloomer, Executive Chairman at Lucida, countered Nikki Cleal of the PPI in the debate “This House believes that the state not employers or individuals, should bear the risk of rising longevity”. Jonathan Bloomer was speaking against the motion and won the vote with a clear majority.

The 2008 NAPF conference proved to be a successful event for both the association and those that attended. At a time where the financial markets put concerns around pension schemes firmly back on the agenda, the opportunity for those managing pension schemes to openly discuss issues facing them with experts from across the industry and to explore the options available for their scheme was greatly welcomed.
